TBS to broadcast live from a Rogers Centre full of Red Sox fans

Blue Jays appearances on American networks are about as rare as unblistered fingers on Al Leiter's hands. (OK...a bad metaphor, but still. We're bitter.) So imagine our surprise in finding out (from Multichannel News) that TBS plans on launching its MLB coverage this season with the Jays-Red Sox tilt from Rogers Centre on Sunday, April 6.

The kid in us feels like we should be excited about this. But how is Toronto going to look to the American TV audience as a Major League city with a stadium full of the other teams' fans...especially since the Jays front office encouraged them to come to our opening weekend?

Thank you, Paul Godfrey and Patrick Elster. We Blue Jays fans will really enjoy being a laughingstock.

Well, unless we are in Bizarro World, then they're plenty of seats. I'm going with the dual purpose of cheering for the Jays and cheering louder than the Massholes. I don't consider ticket-gate to be a slight, only motivation to fill more seats and cheer.

The best part is that you won't be humiliated if your prediction of the stands being more full of Sox fans than usual for a weekend game doesn't come true. You can't lose!

Massholes planning on coming out to this series did so in October when the schedule came out. It's not like he gave them free tickets, they were going to come anyways. It won't be much different, than any other Sox weekend game in April.

That said, there's no reason why all us fans can't all show up too, and completely rock them back to Massatuchetts. So do it!

Oh my god. You are such an apologist.

You don't need to root for the executives to root for the team.

It's not apology, I just think it's the demographic of the New England fan. I think Paul Godfrey is a complete moron and that if he did what he does in any other market, he'd be hung outside the stadium. He creates the Flashback Friday as a way to say "Here, fans wont this shut you up?", and acts like the Jays are some organization that goes to great lengths to preserve their history.

That said, life's unfair and this is ridiculous, but I'm probably going to root harder and cheer louder, because I don't think the players deserve to have Red Sox cheers echoe through the stadium without any sort of equal effort putout by us fans.

Honestly, you and that Left Field fella have taken this too far. Get over it. If they run out of seats then you have a point, but that hasn't happened since Rick Astley was in the charts.

I have a name, you know it. Say it! Say my name.

Point being, we like looking stupid on our own, not stupid because of the suits' decisions.
